Swindell Wins A Feature in First Night of Knoxville Nationals

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Opening night of the 51st Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals saw Sammy Swindell take first place in the A feature Wednesday at the Sprint Car Capital of the World.

Swindell, a Knoxville Nationals veteran from Germantown, Tennessee, edged Davey Heskin of St. Michael, Minnesota, who had to settle for second after Swindell pulled away late in the race.

With the win, Swindell is assured a good starting spot in Saturday night's championship race.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. won the B Feature.

The second night of qualifying begins tonight with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are still available at the track box office, online at knoxvilleraceway.com or by calling 641-842-5431.
