CLINTON, Iowa -- The Ashford women's golf team is proud to announce the addition of Chantel Eicher of Marshalltown, Iowa as the third member of their 2012-13 signing class.
"We are extremely excited that Chantel has decided to continue her golf career here at Ashford," said Head Coach Josh Heiple."She will make an immediate impact in our quest to win championships here."
Eicher is coming off a spectacular junior year in at East Marshall High School, where she was crowned the individual State Champion in Class 2A Girls Golf. In addition to that honor, Eicher was also named to the Class 2A All-Tournament Team and won the North Iowa Cedar League Championship.
Eicher placed fifth overall at the Class 2A State Championships as a sophomore, as well as winning the Class 2A Individual District Championship.
In addition to her accolades on the links, Eicher was also an all-league performer on the volleyball court.
"I chose Ashford because of how welcoming the coaching staff and the small town and small school atmosphere," Eicher said."The Ashford campus as a whole was very friendly. It was a great fit for what I was looking for athletically and academically."
"Chantel is a tough competitor who hates to lose," Heiple added. "She has a killer instinct that you can't teach and as her game keeps developing, she has a chance to be a special player. Her state championship last year is just the beginning of what she can accomplish on the golf course."
Eicher will join Alizabeth Fiorini (Princeton, IL) and Katie Thompson (Rock Island, IL) on Ashford's campus next fall. She plans on majoring in Secondary Education.
