The Iowa Sports Connection has been around now for 12 years!  The look and the products have changed over the years but the message and the mission have remained the same.

 "Promote positive participation in youth sports by recognizing active Iowans from the Pee-Wees to the Preps to the Pros."

Our President and Founder, Mike Rickord, started the company out of his garage.  As he followed his own sons youth sports activities he realized that there was a need to recognize parents, coaches and the youth who were participating in the numerous programs around the state.  The benefits to young people, the long hours of volunteer coaches, and the lengths that parents will go to support their children in their athletic endevours, all worthy and deserving of praise.

The company and its stable of products have grown over the years.  We currently have a monthly magazine with a readership of over 75,000 per month.  We have 3 weekly radio programs dedicated to youth and high school sports reaching the entire state of Iowa through our Iowa Sports Connection radio network and internet streaming.  We also have 2 websites and two weekly e-newsletters that we publish to help keep you up to date on youth sports on a daily basis!

To the general public we offer a subscription to our monthly magazine for only $19.95 per year.  This high quality print product along with our radio shows and websites provide positive (and only positive) information to active Iowans across the state.  Pictures, results, feature stories along with special recognition stories are just a few of the things you will find in our products.

My name is Joni Spencer from Waterloo.  My daughter is Jadyn Spencer, Junior @ Waterloo West High School.  I was told about this sports site by a co-worker that has a son who ran track for CR Washington last spring..... and now I check your site out a couple times a week and read all the articles on it!  I love keeping up with everything and everyone around the state.... I attended Gene Klinge's bball games back in the 80's and wish I could be at his game tonight when he makes history! Dave O'Hara has also written for ISC, I believe, and was a former classmate of mine from Postville High School.  Elizabeth Szabo Ennis, who just got 100 wins.... played bball with my sister and they were the first girls team from Postville to go to the big barn!  I absolutley & totally enjoy your site! ISC keeps many of us former athletes connected and we can keep up with eachother's kids!  Thank you for all you do at ISC to keep us informed and current!

I see West High is ranked on your site. That is exciting too!  We are a young team.  We had a big win last week and head to Dubuque tonight. 

So Tony....question of the day.....  I am curious if Iowa Sports Connection has ever had a single female 4A athlete lead the state in 2 categories in 2 different sports in the matter of 6 months?  Last week Jadyn led all scorers in 4A and this past summer she led softball hitting and maybe even a couple other softball categories... Jadyn also took 2 individual events (100 & Shot Put-Great combo, huh?)  and she was a member of a relay that set their school record at the state track meet. She is also a 4.0 student.  I was just curious if an athlete has ever led 2  - 4A categories before? 

Let me know what you find out.... (I think it is pretty remarkable, but then ... I am her mom ... so I shouldn't probably count!)
