DES MOINES - The Drake Football Youth Day, open to kids in elementary schools from the Des Moines area, will be held April 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Drake Stadium.

Area youth are invited to attend this free session for fun football related activities with the Drake Football team and Drake cheerleading squad.

Kids will have the opportunity to watch the Drake Football team practice until 4:30 when the event begins. The activities will start with players speaking to the kids, followed by stations for the children to participate in.

“Some of our players will be discussing the importance of school,” said Head Coach Chris Creighton. “We will have six different stations set up and it is all about having fun.”

The festivities will wrap up with an autograph session with players.

“Our players do such a good job with the kids and getting them to have fun and getting to know them,” said Creighton. “It's important for the love of the game and it’s important for the relationships because it gives the kids a chance to know college football players.”

For more information contact Drake assistant football coach Rick Fox at either 515-271-3832 or by e-mail at rick.fox@drake.edu.
